A hearty welcome to my developing and ever-evolving system of SPIKETRAINING! I am very grateful that you have taken the time to visit and to express interest in the concepts that motivate the SPIKETRAINING experience. What exactly is "SPIKE" all about?
Well, to be as brief as possible, but without being remiss, SPIKE is about a number of things. First of all... SPIKE is me! Spike is a nickname given to me by my 7th grade English teacher way back in the day, and it has stuck with me ever since. Since it's kind of a long story, I'll save you all the time and tedium, and just say that Spike was an indirect object receiving the bone, and I was asked to provide the direct object! My English lesson wasn't a top priority that day!
SPIKE
Well, the years have passed (way too many of them I might add!), and along the way, the great forces that be have driven Spike within me! I resemble a Spike! Five foot 10 inches tall, 130 lbs, and under 5 percent body fat... well, that's pretty Spikelike! And how did I become so "Spikelike"? It all started when I became obsessed with the footbag - you know, the hacky sack, the sipa, or whatever you want to call it.

I started playing footbag with a group of coworkers about 15 years ago. It started out as a mere pasttime in which we would parttake during our lunch hour and ten minute break periods, but rapidly grew into a sport in which we engaged many hours a week. We became quite good, since ceaseless hours of practice will frequently yield such results, and before long we found ourselves entertaining multitudes whereever we chose to "kick it". Time, however, as is its wont, kept on ticking and broke up our band. But I never stopped kickin'.

I became infatuated with the energy of it all and began to look into ways by which I could improve my game. I began an intensive study of nutrition and also began various forms of endurance and flexibility training. From there, I became infatuated with the faculties of mind and psychology, quit my job as a warehouse employee, and began my college career as a Psychology major. Upon completion of my first year, I received a full-tuition scholarship as a student of Classical Civilizations, which became my second major.

I was now rapt in the life of acadamia and, burning the candle at both ends, I divided my time engaging in various types of physical workouts and the study of the humanities. I also began private tutoring in various subjects: music theory, mathematics, Latin, Ancient Greek, Modern Greek, French, research methods, and statistics. I loved what I did, and my passion and intense energy allowed me to excell throughout my college endeavors.

After college, I went on to work in a couple of laboratory settings while continuing my pursuits of knowledge about body and mind. I started exploring and participating in martial arts and boxing (a subject matter by which I had been fascinated for a long time now), which resulted in the intensification of my regular daily workouts. Since that time, I have undergone a number of significant changes and have gleaned a multitude of invaluable insights about myself and my relationship with this world and universe.
SPIKE has become something of a symbol--a symbol of the contrasting and paradoxical cyclic energies that keep me ever in motion. SPIKE is a symbol of sorts for the yin and the yang. SPIKE, as a mere object, is sharp, steely, hard - and yet it must be driven by other forces to unleash its fullest potential. On the other hand, to SPIKE is to drive forcefully and powerfully. The fact is that SPIKE is something realized through practice and dedication, but its essence can be summarized as Spirited Precise Intense Kickin' Energy! And that is the primary focus and objective of the discipline of SPIKETRAINING! The journey has just begun! Prepare to accelerate!
